My type A personality is having a hard time jumping into the middle of a series... (Added context: I have a Y5 & a youngish Y4 and we are working through Publicola during Term 1 this year. I'm looking for what to do after that.)

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I started with Publicola, then worked through Volume 1. I skipped to Volume 3 to do a life with Schole Sisters. Now we are filling in the gap with Volume 2. I hope to eventually get to them all as I homeschool over the next 10 years even if each kid doesn't read the whole cycle.

My answer to MitchAndAmy is still the same: it's fine. The studies (and the volumes) do not need to be read in sequence, or completely finished. Do a few, do more if you can, do them all if you have time. But don't stress over it.
