I just tested the button by "liking" Brandi's suggestions. And it works!

No, but if you go to your profile, it shows how many "Likes" you've received.

I wonder if I can see that on someone else's profile?

On the right-hand side of the screen, right here in the thread, I can see how many "Likes" a person has given and received. Can everyone see that, or just Admin? Or just Moderators?
