What is the best way to do this? I remember reading to upload it to a particular site and then post the link, but I can't remember the details. I tried searching, but I must not be using the right words. Thanks!

Broken video embeds |

I was going to wait until I had more info, but it turns out setting up MySQL is complicated.
I haven't ever seen a working YouTube embed on the forum, while Vimeo appears to work beautifully. As far as I can tell, this is only because the YouTube iframes are being requested as HTTP, which any modern browser (namely, Chrome (I didn't actually test Firefox)) blocks, leaving a gaping hole in the webpage.
According to the MyBB docs, it appears that providing an HTTPS YouTube URL should result in a secure widget. I think it somehow... doesn't.
I have no idea why they aren't working or if it's fixable, but that's what I can see from here. I haven't double checked Vimeo embeds, and I've never seen any others attempted. Hope that helps!

Search Minimums |

I know we have a thread on this somewhere, but I couldn't find it.
I'm checking to see if any change has been made on the search minimums.
For example, I can't search for "Rob Roy." I think you have to use at least four or more characters in a search.
I though I was clever by using "Rob Roy Scott," but then I noticed the search ignore the "Rob Roy," and only searched for "Scott."

I'm unable to edit the Y2 chart even after downloading. Is there a reason? Also, If I download it as a DOC it's not in a chart form. Also wondering what happened to the basic vs detailed option?
Thanks so much!

Year 10 Lite Updated |

Same as with the other Lite Years, some priority books and historical documents were swapped out, and page counts were used to even out the terms.
Year 10 is a hefty year, as so many classics were written during this period, and there was a lot going on historically. But I think Year 10 Lite achieves a nice balance of including the most necessary texts while still being manageable.
At the top of the Year 10 Lite schedule page, there's a link to access the old schedules.
That completes changes to the Lite Years. There are no immediate plans to work on Year 11 Lite.

Hello,
I'm trying to print out the charts for Year two, and they are not formatting to fit each term on one page. The page breaks are misplaced, and I can't figure out how to fix it myself. Am I doing something wrong or is it just being updated?
Thanks so much!

New! and Improved! Year 9 Lite |

Years 7 and 8's Lite schedules were recently spruced up a bit to even out the readings over the terms.
Year 9 Lite had more of an overhaul. The books that were considered integral to the year were added in, some other books were removed to make room for them, all while keeping to a strict page count of 1900 pages per term. Speeches and historical documents were lined up more accurately to where they belong historically, and many books were spread out to take them more slowly and reflectively.
Just like Years 7 and 8 Lite, the old schedules are still available by clicking a link at the top of the page.
Yes, we plan to do the same for Years 10 and 11 Lite, but I can't say when that will be. I can't even say that it will be before September (sorry!)

Not sure where to post: Raspberry Pi tech question |

Sorry, I am not sure where to post this technology handicraft question. Moderators please post it where you think I might get an answer.
My son is having a problem when using his Raspberry Pi where his SD card is getting wiped every time he changes operating systems. Is there a way to prevent this. He is using an SD card to USB adapter. Sorry this mom is pretty tech illiterate so any help is much appreciated. Thanks. Also any recommendations on student friendly tech forums or discussion loops would be greatly appreciated.

Year 7 and 8 Lite Weekly Schedules |

New weekly schedules for Year 8 Lite and Year 7 Lite have been uploaded.
The page counts for planning AO 2.0 helped to configure the weekly schedule so that the terms are more evenly balanced.
The old schedules are still available for the 2017-2018 year since some are already using them. There's a link at the top of the page of the new schedule -- it will take you to the old schedule, which is linked to the old charts.
Year 9 Lite will be next.

AO 2.0 is On Its Way |

Coming Soon: AmblesideOnline is putting the final touches on a streamlined version of AO that can be done with groups of students in Form I (grades 1-3), Form II (grades 4-6) and Form III (grades 7-8 or 9). Are you thinking of doing AO in a co-op setting? Are you hoping to start a CM cottage school? Perhaps you need a way to streamline a large family into a couple of Years? AO 2.0 may be just what you're looking for!
Hold your questions while we get to work settling a few last details and getting this into a presentable format. We can share this much: this plan uses many of the same high quality books that AO is known for, with weekly schedules to help pace your year. AO 2.0 will have the same high standards and rich ideas that AmblesideOnline has always had, in a pared down, simplified version designed especially for groups . . . all of it true to Charlotte Mason's principles, and like AO's regular curriculum, all free for groups to use (you still have to buy your own books!)
