Help with Signature please

I am trying to update my sig to say this:
Ann-Marie momma to three handsome princes ages 15, 13 and 10
[i]"Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it." - Anne Shirley[/i]

but it keeps telling me that I have exceeded the 300 limit by 112.  Can anyone tell me how to fix this?  I counted it and without spaces it is not even close to 300 characters.  Also, HTML is disabled.  Do I need to enable it and if so, how do I do that?  When I try to preview it a whole bunch of HTML quickly appears and then leaves.
