Or I can do it, as long as the group leaders see this and are fine with it. Helen, are you in the special needs group? That one is much more active than adoption.

You're in.  When you have time, you should introduce yourself there. I think it's required, at least for the special needs group.

It shows that I am in the groups I requested. How do I actually get into them to chat with people?

I can see that I have been added to the two groups that I requested. How do I actually get into the groups so I can chat with people?

When you look at the list of forum areas, one of the top-level categories is Private Groups. Look under that heading for your new groups.
