I know, I know, I have been tainted by facebookbook. Grrrrr. The reality, however, is that it is a reinforcing time saver. If I agree with someone's comment I don't have to create a reply, but rather hit a like button. Then only if I have something different to add do I actually have to reply.

Anyway, wasn't sure if it were an available add-on or not but wanted to suggest it.
We asked that very same question. I think Phyllis put it on her list of things to look for later. Lol
So far, the plugin that I found actually adds a Facebook like. As in, you click "Like" here, and it posts to your Facebook account.

Is something like that what you want?

There is also a built in "rating" system for threads, but I have it turned off, because it just doesn't make sense to me personally. I understand clicking on "Like," but not giving threads ratings.

I just found another plugin, but it looks like it's too old....

So, there should be something out there, I just haven't put time into searching for it yet.
I don't think we want our content out on FB, so let's keep looking!
I was part of another forum that I believed used this same system. Sadly a "like" button was never found.
I will try the one that might be outdated. This is just testing, for now. I can adjust the button color and such later, if it works well.

Definitely want. I am thinking more private just for us. It would help the poster of the original question be able to see what most people are doing by the "popularity" of a particular response. If that makes sense. I know people are concerned about how time consuming forums can be. It can be like being on digest on yahoo groups and swimming through the "thank yous" and "that's what I do" posts. I think the like button could eliminate that because it could take a thread from 6-7 pages and reduce it to 1-2 pages.

I am thinking more long term at the ultimate consolidation of all the different places AO currently has things going on.
Just testing that "like button"--kind of cool. If it posts on Facebook, though, I will be annoyed.
"Liking" a post changed the button to "Unlike," so it could be undone if I wanted to. :)
It does not post to Facebook.
