Welcome, Gertrude. Regarding sexual abuse, you might want to check out the recent book discussion on Gavin de Becker's book Protecting the Gift. I am not an abuse survivor, but it's rampant in my family of origin. I found de Becker's book to be empowering. Along with quite a few other resources, it's addressing my feelings of helplessness surrounding this issue. It might be helpful for you.
