Year 7 Changes

Joan of Arc is a very hefty book! I don't remember feeling like term 1 was any heavier than term 2 - other than just adjusting to the huge step up in Y7. Penny Candy is a shorter read - it's written as a series of letters.

This audio drama of In Freedom's Cause makes it go by too fast. Lol.

I wish I had known about this a year ago. I would have bought it for my year 7 kid. He has already finished it for this year though. He had a difficult time with this book for the first 1/4 to 1/2 of it. But loved it by the end of the book. This would probably have made it much easier. I will have to remember it for my next kid coming up.

Hi Katie,
Is the audio drama of In Freedoms Cause an 'acting out' of the unabridged story, or a totally different script based on the original? I can't seem to find that on the website.

Yes, all the GA Henty Adventure Stories are abridged and acted out (and a little more Christian than the originals). If you are a fan of the Lord of the Rings or Narnia movies or Downtown Abbey or Foyle's War or any of Kenneth Branagh's Shakespeare films, you will recognize the voices!

Don't mean to high jack this In Freedom's Cause post, but these GA Henty audio plays are great!!! My Y7 listened to In Freedom's Cause before she read (not on purpose, but they were Christmas present and she couldn't wait!) I think it made the read more enjoyable for her.

One drawback is the price---especially if you are used to free audio.

Abi, Melinda answered! They are expensive but I pretty much ADORE audio dramas because my kids clamor for more of them without any prompting.

They ran a special before Christmas where you received two CDs of each audio drama for $80 as a set. Yes, it's pricey. That prevented me from getting them sooner. But these CDs get more playing time at our house than just about anything else. And we had some to give as gifts, which is a plus!

Is there a way to access the old charts after they have been changed? We are finishing up year 8 and wanted to print out the older version of term 3 for our note keeping.
