Importing Schedule into Google Sheets

I’m another spreadsheet gal (someone bought me a shirt that says “I’ve got a spreadsheet for that! ). I just copy it from the google doc over to google sheets. It’s really not to big of a hassle. I also separate the terms into separate tabs….so much you can do!

I do it this way now, too. I used to just work with Word because it didn't require as many formatting touch ups. But I really need the schedule to be viewed and edited from whatever device I have at hand. So I switched to Sheets. I used to make separate checklists, but I don't have time for that anymore, so I just fill the cell with gray after I've heard or seen a narration for that reading. I also highlight columns to indicate co-op break and online class breaks. This helps me decide how to spread out the readings. Also helps us keep our bearings if we fall behind. Which week were we supposed to be on by now? Oh yeah, co-op break fell on such and such week, so we should be on Week ____ now. 

Now that I need to keep track of grades for high school, I'm experimenting with having an identical schedule in different tab in which I quickly enter an appropriate percentage in the cell along with filling the cell with gray. But this is not working out well for me. I'd love other suggestions for keeping track of grades. I have one student for whom I hardly need to keep track of grades, because he is so consistent, but I have another who is all over the place.

How detailed do your grades need to be? Every assignment or just per quarter/year?

Excel has some built in grade book templates that may work well for your needs. I used to use them when I taught science at a co-op. There’s also some free online resources that would be similar but I say it depends on the level of specifics you need for your state. I know some can just give grades for the “class” for the year.
