What is a "sticky"? How to share docs?

Can someone tell me what a "sticky" is?  And how do I share documents?

"Stickies" are the threads that are "stuck" to the top of the list in each area, otherwise known as Important Threads.

For sharing documents you store them somewhere like Google Drive and then share links to them.
