I joined this forum using the same anonymous handle I use elsewhere on the net, but after looking around and seeing how it is used, I realized I'd like to use my real name, especially since I hope to meet people at the conference. Who do I contact about changing my screen name?

Can someone help me find my thread from last fall about my two sons not getting along (before the DYT thread)? I can't remember what forum it was in, and I updated Tapatalk ... sigh. So now I can barely find the search, and it won't let me search the way I want to.

Dear AmblesideOnline members,
This is a VERY important announcement, so please read!
The AO Forum and Facebook group will take a restful Holiday Break beginning on Friday, Dec 18. We'll re-open the forum again on Charlotte Mason's birthday, Friday, January 1, and re-open our Facebook chat group on Epiphany, January 7. Thus, the forum will be closed to posting for two weeks, and the Facebook group will be closed for a three week period.
Why are we taking this break? The CM method is about more than homeschooling; it's about life and relationships. We would like our AmblesideOnline family of members, moderators, Auxiliary and Advisory to step back from lessons and computers, and take time to savor the holidays with their loved ones.
Should you need AO information during the break, existing threads will remain available at the forum, and of course the AmblesideOnline website will remain up and running.
We encourage you all to explore AO's special Holiday pages during the break!
The Advisory's Favorite Holiday Stories and Poems:

Holiday Carols and favorite CDs:

May you find time to reflect on the meaning of Christmas, enjoy time with those you love, and be refreshed as you anticipate the coming year.
We wish you a Merry Christmas!

New and need help getting started |

Im new ! I'm not very good at things on the computer. It simply tires me. But I'm willing to really try to figure out how to use AO and make this curriculum work for our family,CM's words really speak to me and echo much of my own parenting voice.
I would like to know what is the best way to get the nitty gritty questions answered. I'm on FB and now this tapatalk app. I think their is a yahoo email group that I joined. What is the best way to ask questions about applying the curriculum ?
I'm online at the AO practically daily reading CM's original work and visiting the faq and trying to get my plan together. I'm going to do the read along of "When Children love to learn" I'm just trying to get my hands on the book. I'm really excited and grateful and happy to have found the group !
Now, how can I communicate ? Right now i'd like to see how a day (or week) in the life of an AO lesson plan looks like ? I have questions about sex education. I was sexually abused so it's particularly hard and yet extremely important I'm prepared for this topic. Thank you so much for your thoughts and considerations to my questions!

Forum Maintenance - November 2015 |

Hi All,
I plan to do some forum maintenance sometime in the next few days. I will try to give as much advanced warning as I can, but since I need to work the update around my husband's and my children's schedules...well, I may not know until I take it down to do the backup! But, it will be back up in a few hours.
There is also some other forum housekeeping that will be going on in the near future as well, so be watching for some other changes not related to the update!

MyBB (AO Forum software) |

How hard is MyBB to implement and manage?
How much time does it take to set up? What is the learning curve?
I see that it is free, but what needs to be in place to host it?
Background: Our CM co-op has grown to include 16 families and close to 45 children. We are beginning to find communicating through e-mail is becoming cumbersome. MyBB seems like a perfect solution. I'm just trying to do a little research on proposing it as an option.

Thursday, October 15th, just a touch more than one week away.
I hope to have some AO friends there with whom we can discuss nature study. I have a couple of the books Miss Mason used, and I'll be letting others touch them for a pittance (just kidding. You can't touch them)*
Bring your own favorite resource, and a snack. I will provide coffee, hot tea, and water is there at the library (really this time- last time, I couldn't do the coffee and I forgot the plates, but I should be able to do it this time).
An unexpected bonus was that last time, Baby Grayson came, too- he's my grandchild who was in the NICU during the AO conference and for whom so many, many people prayed. He might be there this time, too- because nursing babies and nursling toddlers are always welcome wherever AO goes.=)
Hope you can come.
*Okay, seriously, you can touch them. You can take pictures. And it's free.=)
