Here are the links from my talk. I also gave an overview of the research from my book, and some of that will be available soon on my website that isn't finished yet.

I'm wondering if Dawn might share the handout she gave to the Swedish Drill participants. Pretty, please?

Yes! I keep meaning to do so but the resources are on my laptop and I don't access the forum from it often, which is why there has been a delay. I can't resist you anything, Phoebe. Y'all - Phoebe has the sweetest countenance and such beautiful eyes.
In the meantime the best introduction - if it hasn't been done already - is to read my post re: the history of Swedish Drill at Afterthoughts. There are several more on the way, which will all be portions of my presentation, so that by the end you can have the complete picture and at which point the handouts will actually make sense.

Here are the handouts from my talk on Swedish Drill, linked through Google Docs:
This one is a list of all the exercises in the book The Swedish Drill teacher that would be appropriate to teach in your homeschool in order to incorporate into a Swedish Drill routine.
This one contains sample drill routines to implement in home schools.
I must emphasize, though, the importance of doing any form of exercise with proper technique due to the potential for injury. It is even more important for us to foster proper movement patterns in our children to avoid lifelong consequences. I hope to create videos with commentary to help guide this process in home schools, but that is a long term project that will not be available quickly. I don't want to discourage anyone from trying, but I do want people to be aware.
Also be aware that Drill was intended to be used with children starting ~8 years old and was not intended for younger kids, although most of the ones I culled from the manual could be adapted for that purpose.

Wendi, I know you're busy hosting orphans so no rush - and maybe someone else remembers and can answer - but you mentioned something in your talk about "feelings matter in education" and "shared awe is a lever" and I have the name Karen Nakamoto scribbled next to that. Was that something sharable/linkable? I Googled it and only found an OBGyn doctor.

I probably slurred, and I know I was horribly dry mouthed the whole time I was speaking. Her name is Matsumoto-
"In a wonderful piece on nature journaling, written by Karen Matsumoto , published on John Hopkins’ School of Education website, I read: “Feelings are a part of learning; it is now known that feelings are essential to deep understanding and sound decision making…. "Once the emotions have been aroused - a sense of the beautiful, the excitement of the new and unknown, a feeling of sympathy, pity, admiration, or love - then we wish for knowledge about the object of our emotional response. Once found it has lasting meaning." http://education.jhu.edu/PD/newhorizons/.../Matsumoto And the same day I found that article, I read this comment in one of our groups, by Rusty Parker, enthusiastic over all the new thing she was seeing in her own backyard- “It's amazing what I'm seeing now that I care!”

This is all part of that book you are writing. I listen to whatever you tell me, you know that (remember Gene Stratton-Porter, ha ha? I read Every Single One, cuz of you!) Now this is my turn, and my gentle reminder. We need this book. Truly. When you have time
