  CM quotes on forum homepage
Posted by: Kari Ellen - 03-06-2013, 02:51 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (3)

I saw a CM quote that I really liked, but forgot to write down where to find it. Is there a list of the quotes you use to cycle through that I could look through to try to find it again? It had to do with obedience only being helpful if it helps the child to ultimately control herself. Thanks!

New changes to Amazon Associates. It will affect AO.
Posted by: lesamcmahon - 02-25-2013, 07:15 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (8)

I'm sure you know about Amazon changes going into effect on March 1st but if you don't, here's the information. It most certainly affects you. https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/...ng/compare

March 1, 2013 version
The following is added at the end of the sub-section:
“In addition, notwithstanding the advertising fee rates described on this page or anything to the contrary contained in this Operating Agreement, if we determine you are primarily promoting free Kindle eBooks (i.e., eBooks for which the customer purchase price is $0.00), YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE TO EARN ANY ADVERTISING FEES DURING ANY MONTH IN WHICH YOU MEET THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:
(a) 20,000 or more free Kindle eBooks are ordered and downloaded during Sessions attributed to your Special Links; and
(b) At least 80% of all Kindle eBooks ordered and downloaded during Sessions attributed to your Special Links are free Kindle eBooks.”

  Yahoo group still active?

Is the AO Yahoo group still active? There were some schedules filed there that I would like to access. If not, have the files been moved to the forum?

Thank you!

  "view new posts" not working?
Posted by: Lori B - 01-14-2013, 10:41 PM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (4)

When I click on the 'view new posts' tab, I get this response:

"Sorry, but no results were returned using the query information you provided."

Since I haven't logged on for a few days, I'm sure that can't be right :)

  Deleting Posts
Posted by: Christo et Doctrinae - 01-12-2013, 03:05 PM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (2)

Hi,

When I edit posts, I have an option to delete the entire post. I tried to use that tonight and received the following message:

Have you liked our Facebook page? If so, you may not be receiving all of our posts. Because Facebook is now asking page owners to pay for promoting their pages, there is no guarantee that our posts are appearing in your feeds.

But there is a remedy! If you would like to see all of our posts in your normal Facebook feed, go to our page, hover your mouse over the "liked" button, and click "Get Notifications." Problem solved!

AO Forum: Closed for Christmas Break Dec. 18-31, 2012
Posted by: AO Advisory - 12-12-2012, 11:34 AM - Forum: Announcements - Replies (4)

Dear Ambleside Online members,

This is a VERY important announcement, so please read!

The AO forum and email list will take a restful Holiday Break beginning on Tuesday, Dec 18. We'll re-open the forum and email list again on Charlotte Mason's birthday, Tuesday, January 1. The forum will be closed to posting. Any messages sent to the email list during the break will not post, and will not be held in a queue to post when we go active again on January 1.

The CM method is about more than homeschooling; it's about life and relationships. We would like our AO family of members, moderators, Auxiliary and Advisory to step back from lessons and computers, and take time to savor the holidays with their loved ones.

For the benefit of anyone who might be starting homeschool for the first time right after the holidays, and those who have some other immediate need in order to begin their January term, the Question and Answer subforum will remain open. We ask that this venue be used during the break only for this purpose.

Should you need AO information during the break, the archives will remain available at our forum:
https://amblesideonline.org/forum/index.php
and Yahoogroup:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AmblesideOnline/

...and of course the AO website will remain up and running.

We encourage you all to explore AO's special Holiday pages during the break!

The Advisory's Favorite Holiday Stories & Poems:
http://www.amblesideonline.org/HolidaySt...oems.shtml

Holiday Carols and favorite CDs:
http://www.amblesideonline.org/HolidayCarols.shtml

May you find time to reflect on the meaning of Christmas, enjoy time with those you love, and be refreshed as you anticipate the coming year.

We wish you a Merry Christmas!

I have heard of the LD/SN group, but I can't find it. Can you tell me where to find this group? I have adapted the curriculum, but it would be nice to be a part of that group.

Thanks

  NEW! Friend finder
Posted by: Phyllis - 11-29-2012, 04:34 PM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (27)

On the Yahoo group there was a database where members could add their locations and look to see if there were other AO families near them. We've just added something similar here.

How to add yourself to the database
1) Go to your UserCP (Control Panel).
2) Click "Edit Profile."
3) Choose your region from the list. Below this (not visible on the picture) you can type in more: your city, state, part of the state, county, etc. Whatever you're comfortable with. Don't put your specific address or phone number! When you're done, click "Update Profile" at the bottom of the page.

How to find people close to you
Click on the Member List at the 4 in the picture above. Scroll down to the bottom and find the "Advanced Search." Click through to that, select your region from the list and search. (I'm still wanting to get that search option out on to the member listing and maybe make the whole list searchable by region, but I haven't gotten there yet.)

  Trade & feedback list?
Posted by: zami - 11-23-2012, 08:37 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (2)

Is there anywhere we can:

1 - leave feedback for members after sales/trades?

2 - post a personal "will trade" list? I'm about to make a "for sale" post, but I'm willing to trade too... my list is ridiculously long though! I was thinking, it might be easier to just link to a "my wanted list" somewhere. But I don't know where, if anywhere, that would be appropriate to post.

  Exam question and mistake

Hi! Where do I report a mistake on an exam? I guess I'll just mention it here. On the Year 5 Term I exam there is a geography question about Machu Pichu. That "marvel" is not studied until Term II.

  Music Change: 2012-2013 Term 3 Opera/Composer Study
Posted by: LeslieNoelani - 10-27-2012, 10:46 PM - Forum: Announcements - Replies (2)

The opera overtures have been adjusted to a term of opera overtures and arias, with a couple of CD's suggested as resources. The selections were suggested by AO graduate Hannah Hoyt, who loves opera (and who also happens to be my daughter-in-law! :) )

You can see what's scheduled on the AO website here: http://www.amblesideonline.org/ComposerS...r_thisterm

Science Change: Years 2 and 3/Pagoo
Posted by: LeslieNoelani - 10-26-2012, 03:48 AM - Forum: Announcements - Replies (1)

Apparently a number of people were already doing this, so this might be more of a formality than a change.

Pagoo has moved from Year 2 to Year 3. This allows The Burgess Animal Book to be spread more slowly throughout Year 2, and it rounds out Year 3's science readings, which only had one book (Secrets of the Woods) scheduled so that much of the year had no science reading being done.

The weekly schedules have been changed as well. Now both years have science readings evenly spread throughout the terms.

Report Typos on AO's Kindle editions
Posted by: LeslieNoelani - 10-24-2012, 03:36 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (25)

AO has started creating Kindle versions of some of the public domain texts we use. If you find a typo in one, you can report it here and we'll try to fix it.

Typos in Kindle editions of books that we did not create, well, we can't do anything about those, even if we link to the Kindle book from our website. ;)

I'm going to be moving some posts from the website typos thread to this one.

I would like to be able view all pages of the "printable version" of a thread. Is this possible?

I am currently copying page by page to send to my Instapaper account (and later to my kindle) for reading. Thx.
