New AO Geography Topics! |

In "Home Education," Charlotte Mason said, ". . . the mother . . . will find a hundred opportunities to teach geography by the way: a duck-pond is a lake or an inland sea; any brooklet will serve to illustrate the great rivers of the world; a hillock grows into a mountain––an Alpine system; a hazel-copse suggests the mighty forests of the Amazon; a reedy swamp, the rice-fields of China; a meadow, the boundless prairies of the West; the pretty purple flowers of the common mallow is a text whereon to hang the cotton fields of the Southern States: indeed, the whole field of pictorial geography––maps may wait until by-and-by––may be covered in this way."
Our latest addition to AO is that we have listed specific geography concepts to be taught "by the way" and scheduled them into different terms throughout Years 1-6. These have been added to our booklists, 36-week schedules and exams. The entire schedule is also outlined on this page:

Problems Posting |

Tonight I had problems posting from my Asus Android Tablet on the MEP thread. I was posting fine on other ones - so I thought maybe because that thread had 25 pages.... but that wasn't it...
Because I went to put a new thread on here telling you the problem - and I couldn't make a new thread either.
But, as I said - I was able to make other posts.
(I was able to do the reply to the MEP thread, as well as do this new post on my desktop running Windows 7)
The symptoms occurred for both the Quick Reply Box and for an actual Reply box. I had an active cursor in the text box - but nothing would enter as I typed.
I've never had a problem before, so I suspect it is because of the update. That said, it will probably be hard to track down as I was able to enter some things... so who knows.

Just a reminder to all in this curriculum buying/ new year planning season that the AO forum offers a place to buy/sell your used CM materials. Just be sure to read the rules for how to label your wares. All inquiries for purchase are done by PM so be sure yours is on. You can find it in the Resources area. Happy Shopping!

AO's Acceptable Use License |

This thread is for clarification and discussion of Ambleside Online's Acceptable Use License.
The Advisory provides the AmblesideOnline curriculum and all the helpful ancillary resources as a free service. However, although the curriculum is free, it is still copyrighted. Any republishing of the content, either on paper or electronically (such as on a blog or website), requires written Advisory permission. This material represents many long hours of Advisory toil, and we appreciate the respect you show by linking to our website rather than republishing its contents (other than short attributed quotes) elsewhere.
We'll be revising this Q&A section that Amy, one of our wonderful Auxiliary moms, started as we see what additional questions we need to include.
Q: May I copy the site and link to it as my own work?
A: umm... NO. but thank you for asking.
Q: May I publish printables & schedules which use the AO years and Subject Rotations?
A: We are quite happy for families to use and make sundry helpful printables for their families' personal use, and/or to share gratis with the AO community via the forum. However, we ask that the Ambleside Online materials (pretty much anything taken from the website) not be used for personal gain or reposted elsewhere on the web. If you are in doubt about a specific project and whether or not it complies, please ask.
Q: May I quote from the CM series or from a Parent's Review article on my website or blog?
A: Yes! Please do! UNLESS your motive happens to be that of boosting visits to your site by mirroring ours. Which we can't really imagine than any of you lovelies would even think of doing. However, if that were the case, we'd thank you to please refer your readers to our site for the original text.
Q: May I print copies of the CM series or PR articles?
A: We'd love for you to print materials for use in personal study or in small group study settings. HOWEVER, we reserve the right to grant or withhold permission to print for reselling purposes.

I am wondering how the open buddy list works.
The other night I had been thinking of some of the wonderful posts I have received and thought to myself I would like to have a wider knowledge/friendship with some of these ladies. Is the open buddy list a way of doing this?

Deleting double posts |

I hereby crown myself the queen of double-posting. But I would like to surrender this crown asap. How do I delete my double-posts? When I check the box that says delete post in the upper left and then the confirm button on the right it tells me I don't have access to this feature.
I need some direction here. Thank you.

For some reason, when I try to read my own thread:
https://amblesideonline.org/forum/showth...on=newpost
The following message shows up:
You do not have permission to access this page. This could be because of one of the following reasons:
1. Your account has either been suspended or you have been banned from accessing this resource.
2. You do not have permission to access this page. Are you trying to access administrative pages or a resource that you shouldn't be? Check in the forum rules that you are allowed to perform this action.
3. Your account may still be awaiting activation or moderation. (Resend Activation Code)
4. You have accessed this page directly rather than using appropriate forms or link.
The link of the thread was sent to my email since I am subscribing, so I don't think any of these apply... What should I do?
