Difference on Windows 7 PHONE |

Not a huge deal, but something I noticed when I was in the hospital (old server time), and still occurs now (new server I'm guessing) when I access the forum on my Windows 7 phone. (so my phone OS is Windows 7 - phone)
The little green arrow to take you to the first message in a thread that you haven't read doesn't work on the Windows 7 phone... it takes you to the message page that has the first message you haven't read - but at the top of that page of messages. So then I have to scroll down to find where I need to start reading the thread.
It is a minor annoyance... but kind of weird that it works great on my computer, but not on my phone.

told I cannot access a thread? |

Hello!
I subscribed to the "Music" forum, and today got an email informing that there was a new thread. In the email it provides an URL to click on to go to that thread. When I clicked on this, I got the following message telling me I could not access the page. I copied the message I got, here it is:
"You do not have permission to access this page. This could be because of one of the following reasons:
Your account has either been suspended or you have been banned from accessing this resource.
You do not have permission to access this page. Are you trying to access administrative pages or a resource that you shouldn't be? Check in the forum rules that you are allowed to perform this action.
Your account may still be awaiting activation or moderation. (Resend Activation Code)
You have accessed this page directly rather than using appropriate forms or link.
You are currently logged in with the username: 'MelindaB' "
Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong, or have I got something set up incorrectly?
Thanks so much!
Melinda

Forum Read (blue dot with arrow) |

When I'm looking at my messages through forum subscription link, I am unable to mark the forum/subforum as 'read' by clicking the blue icon with the white arrow in it.
However, if I go directly to the forum/subforum and read it there, I am able to click the icon and mark the forum as 'read'.
I would much prefer to only have to go through the subscribed forum link because I have to wade through all of the other forums (...cuz I tend to get sidetracked and waste a lot of time when I have to do that!).
I'm using Firefox 14.0.1

Please turn on PMs! |

Please, as a general courtesy, turn on Private Messages in your User Control Panel. Especially if you're going to send them! I'm hearing from people who get PMs, but are unable to answer them, because people have them disabled.
If you need help, this thread explains what to do.
If you have an extra special reason to keep them turned off, that's okay. (We have them turned off for teen users, so that their parents will be able to monitor all their conversations.) Otherwise, please do leave them enabled.
Thank you!

How do I get back to the main page? |

After spending some time looking around within the different forums I found myself not knowing how to return to the main/home page of the forum. I eventually had to click "back" button multiple times to get to the main/home page. Is there a button somewhere to get me home with one click?
My dd is going into Y4 and from reading the archives I decided to make a substitution for Kidnapped. So should I post the question of substitution to the year 4-6 forum or the books substitution forum?

Maybe this already exists, and no rush, I know y'all are busy! I was wondering if there will be a way to find other AO Forum members in the same area; I know the Yahoo Group had something like that but I only glanced at it once. Maybe a subforum for each state, where people could post the city they live in, or something like that? We're military, so I know we'll be moving around and I'd love to find other CM families in the future!

Can I change the colour of the font that appears on the board? Much of the font is a very very pale aqua colour that against a white background is very hard to read. It may be pretty but I find it rather a strain on the eyes.

Private Messaging - enable message |

When someone sends a Private Message, could they be warned (if they have Private Messaging disabled) to enable Private Messaging if they are wanting that person to reply to them?
I received a PM but cannot respond because that person has PMs disabled.
I was able to search for the user and respond to her Meet & Greet message, so I think it will work out, but a warning would make it much easier for someone who is wanting to help the original PM sender but doesn't have the time to send multiple messages/posts in order to respond privately.
Thanks!
Blessings,

Subforum listed in each post? |

I wonder if it is possible to include the subforum along with the thread title at the beginning of each post? I find myself forgetting if I am in one forum or another when I try to keep my reply on-topic, but I have to go to the top to rediscover which subforum I am replying in.
(Or perhaps it is included somewhere in the post and I just don't see it?)

I am really LOVING the new forum and actually thought I would not. THANK you THANK you THANK you!!!
I have a suggestion but don't know if it is a possibility. I am subscribing to many different forums so I can just read the things that apply most to me easily when we get busy with school and it is a little tedious to open each individual forum and click the follow button. I was wondering if there might be an option to open all the forum titles and once and check on a single page the forums we want to follow. If not that's fine but I thought it could help others as well if this was an option.
Only suggesting because I thought that was the point of Beta NOT complaining at all!

confused about thread settings |

I was exploring the User CP and trying to set everything up to my liking, but somehow I messed it up --- and going back to "default" settings didn't seem to help. I am only seeing one post at a time, so to read a thread I have to click each individual post one at a time, which takes forever on my lousy internet connection. Which settings do I have to adjust to get the forum to show me a whole thread at once?

tracking responses to your responses |

I discovered that you can track the threads you start under User CP. Can you track at a click the responses you give to others to see if they had a further question? So far I have been going back to the threads to see if there was a response. However, I cannot remember every thread I respond to on the forum. Is that what subscribing to the thread is for?
Thanks, Annette

When I click reply to a post, that post shows up in the reply box as a quote. I have been deleting that content before posting (as in the email lists) but is there another way to be sure my replies don't contain the whole text of the post I'm replying to? Sorry, that sounds convoluted, but I don't want to clutter things up accidentally. Thanks!
