  Help with Avatar
Posted by: Jodi-Marie Drehmer - 09-13-2012, 04:47 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (1)

I was attempting to add a picture that I had downloaded on my computer as my avatar and it keeps failing. The steps I am taking are to click upload picture on the change avatar page then I go to the My Picture folder on my HD, choose the picture, open it, the name of the pic shows up in the rectangle but then I was clicking "change avatar" button on the bottom of the page and I get a message that it failed. I must be doing something wrong but I can't figure it out. Thanks for the help.

Not all new posts showing up
Posted by: ozark mama - 09-08-2012, 01:47 PM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (8)

The past couple of days when I click on New Posts it will show me about 10 or so posts and that's it. I know it's not all of the new posts because when I click on Today's Posts there are several pages that have posted since I last visited. Is there a possiblity that it isn't working properly for me or am I just confused? :)

Thanks,

After trying the "Help" link and searching on a "New Thread" page, I can't find it. Is there a way to attach a .doc or .pdf or whatever to a post?

Suggestion regarding Special Needs private group
Posted by: Entropia - 09-03-2012, 03:46 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (1)

Hello! I have a sugestion regarding the wording in the description of the LD/Special Needs private group.

In the "Gifted" group, the description reads:

"A private group for parents dealing with the often misunderstood issues of raising and homeschooling gifted children; for the sake of member privacy, inclusion into this group requires that you introduce yourself to the group within a week of being approved."

However, in the "LD/Special Needs" group, the description simply reads:

"A private group for parents with children who have special needs from learning issues to physical challenges."

As a parent of a child with quadriplegia cerebral palsy (whch brings a host of phsyical and medical challenges), I humbly suggest that

"for the sake of member privacy, inclusion into this group requires that you introduce yourself to the group within a week of being approved." be added to the Special Needs group also.

I would feel a lot more comfortable sharing our experiences in this particular field of homeschooling (I have four non-disabled children also) knowing that people are expected to introduce themselves, and not just lurk.

Thank you for considering this request. :)

Is there a place where can upload files that we've created?
Posted by: TKDmom - 09-02-2012, 10:57 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (1)

I just made myself a Kindle book for Madam How and Lady Why with a linked TOC and week divisions. I'd love to make it available for anyone who wants it, but I'm not sure where the best place to share it would be.

Tim at our server/host thinks he has resolved the issue with the security/certificate issue. Can you see if you're still getting the "untrusted site" warning? he'd like some feedback to know if it's all taken care of.

  Family Dynamics Forum?
Posted by: GwenM - 09-02-2012, 03:43 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (6)

Why isn't there a 'General' category in the 'Family' section? Or am I just not seeing it?! I have some questions I'd like to ask regarding multi-generational living (we are trying it out living with my MIL for a year) and using AO. In particular, trying to make our lifestyle, as informed by our schooling choices, understood.

I don't have an only child; I'm not a single parent; I have multiple kids, but not a large family; and both big boys are doing Year 1, so I'm not juggling several years at once.

Any thoughts? Where do discussions about Family and AO go when they do not fit the sub-categories?

Thanks for all you do, mods and admin. This forum is great!

  Time Zone?
Posted by: HollyBrown - 09-01-2012, 09:53 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (1)

Is there a way to change the time zone to match my own? As I type this, at the top of the screen it is saying "Current time: (date), 11:51" I am in Florida, so it is actually 7:51. When I am skimming through posts, and seeing "Mary posted at 11:35pm" and it's not even close to 11 here, it is hard to figure how long ago the posts were! Thanks.

  Another New Subforum?
Posted by: suzukimom - 09-01-2012, 03:17 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (6)

I was wondering if there was a possibility of having a new Subforum area similar to the AO International - but for people wanting to discuss modifications due to religion.

It could have a few standard threads (like in the Math area for the curriculums)...

ie -

Catholic
LDS
Jewish
other????

It just seems more specific than the general book substitutions forum....

Just a thought...

  Certificates
Posted by: suzukimom - 08-31-2012, 03:32 PM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (2)

When the AO forum moved to the new server, there was a day or so that my computer would warn me that the site's certificate could not be authenticated... It was fine after that...

However, on my Windows 7 phone (not using any program other than IE on the phone) I get that warning still - for Every Page I look at. So I basically can't access the site on my phone anymore.

  No signature

I have accessed my "CP" and added the signature I want added to my posts and checked the boxes (I believe) that say 'enable signature to all posts', but my posts still don't have my signature in them. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,

Is there a way to go to the first unread post on a thread?
Posted by: TKDmom - 08-29-2012, 02:03 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (20)

When I come back to read new replies on a thread that I have previously read, is there any way to just go directly to the first unread post? I have been scrolling down to figure out which posts I've already read, but it would be so much more convenient to have a button at the top of the thread that says "view first unread" or something like that.

An option to favorite a post or thread?
Posted by: lesamcmahon - 08-27-2012, 12:48 PM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (3)

I don't know the limitations of the bulletin board but is there an option available that can make it so we can favorite a post or thread and see those options in our User CP so we can go back to them later? That would make it much easier to keep track of those things that we might need in the future.
