  daily digest
Posted by: Rebecca Miller - 08-17-2012, 01:06 PM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (5)

Is there a way to get a daily digest instead of individual emails?

  Forum Subscriptions
Posted by: ofthec - 08-17-2012, 02:49 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - No Replies

Is there a way to expand the new threads under my forum subscriptions so I can see them all at a glance rather than opening each forum to see all the threads?

  Member locator forum?
Posted by: islavet - 08-17-2012, 12:55 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (2)

Maybe this already exists, and no rush, I know y'all are busy! I was wondering if there will be a way to find other AO Forum members in the same area; I know the Yahoo Group had something like that but I only glanced at it once. Maybe a subforum for each state, where people could post the city they live in, or something like that? We're military, so I know we'll be moving around and I'd love to find other CM families in the future!

  Hyperlinks
Posted by: Mommy Dixon - 08-16-2012, 04:25 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (3)

Is there an easy way to hyperlink text within a post? I have been doing that in an outside app (Evernote) but cannot see how to do when I reply within the forum.

  Font Colour
Posted by: jane5ok - 08-15-2012, 04:07 PM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (20)

Can I change the colour of the font that appears on the board? Much of the font is a very very pale aqua colour that against a white background is very hard to read. It may be pretty but I find it rather a strain on the eyes.

regards
Jane

  Subscribe to thread
Posted by: lollielean - 08-15-2012, 04:06 PM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (3)

How do you subscribe to a thread without replying to it? I know how to subscribe to a separate area in the forum by clicking the button in the right hand corner but it doesn't have that option at least for me on an individual thread.
Thanks!

  Private Messaging - enable message
Posted by: Rice - 08-15-2012, 03:39 PM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (1)

When someone sends a Private Message, could they be warned (if they have Private Messaging disabled) to enable Private Messaging if they are wanting that person to reply to them?

I received a PM but cannot respond because that person has PMs disabled.

I was able to search for the user and respond to her Meet & Greet message, so I think it will work out, but a warning would make it much easier for someone who is wanting to help the original PM sender but doesn't have the time to send multiple messages/posts in order to respond privately.

Thanks!

Blessings,

  Subforum listed in each post?
Posted by: Katie Barr - 08-15-2012, 12:36 PM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (9)

I wonder if it is possible to include the subforum along with the thread title at the beginning of each post? I find myself forgetting if I am in one forum or another when I try to keep my reply on-topic, but I have to go to the top to rediscover which subforum I am replying in.

(Or perhaps it is included somewhere in the post and I just don't see it?)

  Forum Subscriptions
Posted by: ofthec - 08-15-2012, 08:04 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (3)

I am really LOVING the new forum and actually thought I would not. THANK you THANK you THANK you!!!

I have a suggestion but don't know if it is a possibility. I am subscribing to many different forums so I can just read the things that apply most to me easily when we get busy with school and it is a little tedious to open each individual forum and click the follow button. I was wondering if there might be an option to open all the forum titles and once and check on a single page the forums we want to follow. If not that's fine but I thought it could help others as well if this was an option.

Only suggesting because I thought that was the point of Beta NOT complaining at all!

  confused about thread settings
Posted by: DeniseIL - 08-15-2012, 07:50 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (1)

I was exploring the User CP and trying to set everything up to my liking, but somehow I messed it up --- and going back to "default" settings didn't seem to help. I am only seeing one post at a time, so to read a thread I have to click each individual post one at a time, which takes forever on my lousy internet connection. Which settings do I have to adjust to get the forum to show me a whole thread at once?

  tracking responses to your responses
Posted by: Annette W. - 08-15-2012, 12:15 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (8)

I discovered that you can track the threads you start under User CP. Can you track at a click the responses you give to others to see if they had a further question? So far I have been going back to the threads to see if there was a response. However, I cannot remember every thread I respond to on the forum. Is that what subscribing to the thread is for?
Thanks, Annette

  OP in reply message?
Posted by: Read4kicks - 08-14-2012, 11:10 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (3)

When I click reply to a post, that post shows up in the reply box as a quote. I have been deleting that content before posting (as in the email lists) but is there another way to be sure my replies don't contain the whole text of the post I'm replying to? Sorry, that sounds convoluted, but I don't want to clutter things up accidentally. Thanks!

  Signatures getting cut off
Posted by: harmonyml - 08-14-2012, 03:47 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (3)

Has anyone else noticed this? I've noticed that a lot of signatures are getting cut off at the bottom of the posts. Is this a problem with my browser, or a forum issue?

Can I email forums or threads?
Posted by: islavet - 08-14-2012, 02:43 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (10)

Although I did install the Forum Runner app which lets me read the forum on my iPod Touch when I have wi fi, I REALLY would like a way to read things offline. That's the thing I really like about the Yahoo Groups; I can get the daily digest by email and read it when I'm out and about. Don't get me wrong, I like the organization of the forum! I THOUGHT Kathy Livingston said there was a way to have threads emailed to myself and read them offline, but I may have misunderstood. I have chosen the "email when a new post is made" button, but I would like to be able to scan through the threads (on the computer or Forum Runner), and easily choose several to "store" (via email??) to read later offline. Any ideas? Or is this impossible? :-(

Thanks!

  Warning Level

Hello,

Thank you for this forum! I did have a question. When I look at a post I have just posted, in the top right of the post under my post count it says Warning Level 0%. What does that mean? Am I in trouble? Thanks so much!

  files in yahoo groups
Posted by: Annette W. - 08-11-2012, 06:55 AM - Forum: Tech Support (Parent and Student Access) - Replies (1)

Sorry if I am in the wrong forum for this question, but will all the files in the AO groups in Yahoo also be transferred to the forum? Is that even possible? overwhelming? necessary? I ask in my ignorance for how these things work.
Thanks, Annette in MD

A link to forum from Home or Site Map?

Hi.
Unless I missed it, which is quite possible, is there a link to the forum from any other location on ambleside.org like there is from the Forum to the other areas?
Thanks, Annette
